FROM ONE IMAGE TO MANY

How to split an image for printing

A few simple steps. A perfectly planned split.

01

Choose your poster image

Start with a clear, high-resolution photograph or artwork. More pages make a larger poster but do not add detail to a small source.

02

Set the poster grid and paper

Choose the number of rows and columns, A4 or US Letter, page orientation, and a margin that suits your printer.

03

Download your multi-page poster PDF

Generate the pages, download the PDF, and print at actual size. Trim and arrange the numbered pieces using the row-and-column layout.

A LITTLE INSPIRATION

Print one large image across multiple sheets of paper

Choose how many pages should run across and down the poster. A 2 × 2 layout uses four sheets, while a 3 × 3 layout uses nine. The tool divides the original image into that layout and places each piece on its own PDF page.

Make your first split
YOUR IMAGE, YOUR WAY

Split an image for A4 or US Letter poster printing

A4 measures 210 × 297 mm. US Letter measures 8.5 × 11 inches. Portrait and landscape settings change the printable page shape. Choose the same paper size in your print dialog, and use actual size or 100% scaling so the PDF page geometry is respected.

MADE TO BE PRACTICAL

Leave printable margins for your home printer

Many printers cannot print all the way to the edge. Set a margin your printer can handle, then trim any unprinted borders before assembly. The exported tiles are fitted inside the selected page area; check the preview and a test page before printing the complete poster.

BUILT AROUND YOUR PRIVACY

Download poster page images as well as a printable PDF

Use the PDF for a multi-page print job or save the image tiles in a ZIP for another layout application. Arrange pages in reading order: left to right, then top to bottom. For a precise physical-size art print, verify scaling and paper handling with your printer.

A FEW THINGS WORTH KNOWING

Poster Printing FAQ

Small questions. Straightforward answers.

More help & answers

How do I print a picture on four pages?

+

Set the grid to 2 × 2, choose your paper size and orientation, generate the pages, and download the PDF. Print all four pages using the same scaling settings, then trim and assemble them.

Can I make a poster with a normal A4 printer?

+

Yes. The tool creates multiple A4 pages from one source image. Your printer handles each sheet normally; you assemble the sheets into the larger picture.

Will more poster pages make a low-resolution image sharper?

+

No. Increasing the print area makes the same source detail larger. Use a higher-resolution image when you need a detailed large poster.

Should I print the PDF at fit to page or actual size?

+

Use actual size or 100% as a starting point and choose the same paper size as the export. Printer drivers can add their own margins or scaling, so check a test page before printing the full set.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

+

No. The image tools read and process your selected file inside your browser. Your image is not sent to an image-processing server. Closing the page clears the working image from memory.

Which image formats can I split?

+

Open JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, and other image formats your browser can decode. Download PNG for lossless graphics and transparency, or JPG and WebP for compressed photos. Animated inputs export as a still frame.

One image. So many possibilities.
