FROM ONE IMAGE TO MANY

How to split your photo online

A few simple steps. A perfectly planned split.

01

Open the photo you want to halve

Choose an image from your device, drag it into the editor, or paste one from your clipboard.

02

Choose a horizontal or vertical cut

Select left and right for two side-by-side images, or top and bottom for two stacked pieces. Check the dividing line in the preview.

03

Save both image halves

Generate the two files and download them individually or together in a ZIP. Your original image remains unchanged.

A LITTLE INSPIRATION

Split a photo in half vertically into left and right images

A vertical cut places the dividing line down the center of the source, creating left and right halves. It is useful for two-panel artwork, before-and-after layouts, and designs that continue across two adjacent images.

Make your first split
YOUR IMAGE, YOUR WAY

Split an image in half horizontally into top and bottom

A horizontal cut creates an upper piece and a lower piece. This can help prepare stacked diagrams, two-page visuals, or a tall composition. Use the labeled orientation controls rather than guessing which direction a row or column will cut.

MADE TO BE PRACTICAL

Keep the original resolution when cutting an image in two

The half-image splitter does not enlarge the source. If its width or height is odd, one half receives the extra pixel so the image can be reconstructed without a missing strip. Use PNG when the most important requirement is a lossless copy of the selected pixels.

A FEW THINGS WORTH KNOWING

Split in Half FAQ

Small questions. Straightforward answers.

More help & answers

How do I split an image in half without cropping out pixels?

+

Select left and right or top and bottom, then generate the two halves. The boundaries divide the original image and preserve its full extent. An odd dimension gives one piece one extra pixel.

Can I download only one half of the image?

+

Yes. After generating the halves, use the download button on the piece you need. You can also save both files together as a ZIP.

Is a vertical split the same as two rows?

+

No. A vertical dividing line creates two columns: left and right. Two rows create top and bottom pieces, with a horizontal dividing line.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

+

No. The image tools read and process your selected file inside your browser. Your image is not sent to an image-processing server. Closing the page clears the working image from memory.

Which image formats can I split?

+

Open JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, and other image formats your browser can decode. Download PNG for lossless graphics and transparency, or JPG and WebP for compressed photos. Animated inputs export as a still frame.

One image. So many possibilities.
